Work Description
This piece is from my collection Sketches of Seasons and Scenes, which I composed with the thought: “Is there a charming piece for players who cannot reach octaves?”
Set in a gentle triple meter, the piece features subtly nostalgic harmonies throughout.
“Petra” refers to the ancient city near the desert regions of Jordan—the Petra archaeological site. This mysterious canyon, once inhabited by the Bedouin people, flourished long ago as a major trading center. Over time, however, it declined and was forgotten for centuries until its rediscovery in the modern era. I sought to express the transience of such rise and fall through a restrained, minimalistic use of notes.
